We all can get out of balance sometimes. But it is important to stay in balance so we don't get sick for example or so we can shine out to show who we are.
When we are in balance we know who we are and what we want when draining energy is in the aura
we can feel down/ depressed or really tired and feel a lack of energy to get things done.
In balance like I said we know what we want but without putting a kind of pressure on our 
shoulders we get in a flow and we instinctively know it will come to us.
Focus on the way we breathe or other things of the body is a good way to know ( if you are not sure if you are out of balance or not some people don't notice it )
Grounding can help too by focusing on roots from our feet to the ground.

Think about how and what the next step is what do you really want and how do you want to do it. Like I said this is without putting pressure on yourself. What also can help isto focus on the chakras it might also be possible that you are out of balance because one or more
chakra's ar not in balance.
Chakra's are the important too for our balance, within the chakra's emotions feelings and thought are kept also happy as not so happy ones. So cleaning them is also essential to do.

Yes we all have bad days and moment in life but we can always come back to ourselves when we want to it is only up to us.
Life is all about balance. You don't always need to be getting stuff done. Sometimes it's perfectly okay and absolutely necessary to do nothing.:
